S & C on the course |
Friday: Daughter C's hubster arrives, so all the chillins are here: we now have 5 couples that represent the Micks/Brayford Clan and what a marvelous family it is. All have remarked at how easily we have melded; must be providence. The day started with a walk up to the water tower above the 10th hole of the golf course, followed by some breakfast from the Sand Wedge, pool time, more food from somewhere, and anticipation for the big event of the day: the "rehearsal dinner" at the club.
Because the actual celebration on Saturday was to be an intimate and simple affair (simple is beautiful) no actual practice of ceremony was needed. We just gathered to bring the family more together as we enjoyed a fine repast at the club dining room. Our goal as the out-of-town parents of the groom was to offer, in a traditional way, thanks to the bride and her parents and those involved in the ceremony and to show our love and support of the new couple. There were a few family presents to open, excellent food and desert, belly-laugh stories of how the couple came to be, warm hearts and some tears of joy. Afterward we gathered again at C's parents house (how many times did we gather there? They were such great hosts) just a few blocks away from the club since we just had to spend some more time together. Seeing the new couple together in the flesh was so satisfying and before long we would have to give up this little bit of paradise for more mundane matters. Time together was precious.
